WebP and AVIF encoding depends on your browser. We only offer a format your browser can actually encode — if it can't, we tell you and ask you to pick another format instead of silently handing you a PNG renamed as WebP or AVIF. PNG and JPG work everywhere.
PNG is lossless, so converting to PNG keeps every pixel. JPG, WebP and AVIF are lossy: converting to them re-encodes the pixels, so quality depends on the quality setting. Converting a JPG to PNG won't restore detail the original JPG already lost — it just stops further loss.
