No. Redaction happens entirely in your browser. Your image is decoded, edited and re-encoded locally — it never leaves your device, and nothing is sent anywhere.
Really removed. Unlike covering text with a black box on a PDF (where the text stays underneath), here we rebuild the image as a new raster. Under a black-out or a strong pixelation, the original pixels are gone from the exported file — there is nothing underneath to recover.
A strong blur or pixelation is not reversible in practice — the detail is destroyed. But a light, soft blur can sometimes be partially undone, because it only smears the pixels rather than replacing them. For anything sensitive (faces, IDs, plates) use black-out or a strong pixelation, not a gentle blur. We don't call a weak blur "secure".
No. Because the image is re-encoded from a canvas, the export does not carry the original EXIF, GPS or other metadata — that's a privacy bonus on top of the redaction.
